As always at Ascot, the action on the track is only part of the story. There is entertainment from tribute acts, plus a wealth of innovative menus and Champagne and cocktail bars to add to the occasion.
The feature race itself is in part a nod to Royal Ascot, albeit also a prestigious prize in its own right. Many of the participants in the Victoria Cup, a seven-furlong handicap, will return to contest major handicap at the Royal Meeting, as shown in 2019's winner, Cape Byron, who went on to win The Wokingham Stakes. With prize money well in excess of £100,000, it’s a race that every trainer and jockey wants to win.
